The Hoh River Rainforest
Ever since an anonymous relative had the World Book Encyclopedia shipped to our home, I have dreamed of visiting a temperate rain forest. Something far removed from the logger’s scraps I thrashed through as a kid growing up in northern Maine. A land untouched; where life goes on undisturbed as it has since the dawn of creation.
Since making tree care my profession, I have wanted to see, smell, hear and touch the tallest, largest and oldest trees on earth. I finally got my chance to visit a rainforest; and not just any rainforest. The Hoh; a river, a forest, a people, a way of life, a rewarding experience. Let us explore this rain-drenched land in the slideshow below (photos copyright Randy Cyr).
